Zander gelten als überaus vorsichtige Fische, die schwer zu fangen sind. Um einen optimalen Shad zum Zanderangeln zu entwickeln muss man das Fressverhalten kennen: Köderform:
Der Zander beisst nicht zu wie z.B. ein Hecht, sondern er öffnet kurz vor dem Erreichen der Beute blitzartig sein Maul auf, wodurch ein Unterdruck entsteht und so der Beutefisch regelrecht inhaliert wird. Aus diesem Grund bevorzugen Zander schlanke Gummis, die sich besonders leicht einsaugen lassen.
Schwanzteller:
Im Gegensatz zum Hecht mögen Zander i.d.R. auch keine stark flankenden Gummis mit großen Schwanztellern. Sie bevorzugen einen kompakten Schwanzteller, der ruhig durchs Wasser gleitet.
Farben:
Auch die Farben des Köders spielen eine sehr wichtige Rolle. Die Farbe soll in erster Linie seinen Jagdinstinkt ansprechen oder ihn zumindest neugierig machen. Aufgrund des Restlichtverstärkers in seinen Augen sind besonders UV aktive Farben der Schlüssel zum Erfolg!
Geruch:
Gerade wenn die Stachelritter eher passiv sind ist es wichtig, einen aromatisieren Köder zu haben. Der Z-Shad hat Squid Aroma.
Auftrieb:
Der Z-Shad ist auftreibend, wodurch er schon bei kleinsten Rutenbewegungen verführerisch spielt. Dank des Auftriebs lässt er sich auch hervorragend an Drop Shot-, Texas- bzw. Carolina Montagen fischen.
