Hard mono fishing line is generally used as leader material. What has worked well for decades in barracuda and marlin fishing has been adapted for fly fishing. And it has since found its way into standard fishing as well. By standard fishing, we mean predator fishing, carp fishing, perch fishing, etc.
Hard mono is, in principle, nothing more than fluorocarbon leader material.
The advantage of a hard mono leader lies, for one, in the hardness of the leader material. When casting crankbaits, artificial flies, or spinners and spoons, the advantage is that the material is hard, i.e., rigid. This is, by the way, where the name "hard mono" / hard monofilament leader comes from.
When casting the fishing rod, the hard mono leader extends significantly. As a result, tangles in the leader are quite rare.
Furthermore, especially when fishing for large fish, hard mono leader material is an advantage because large fish are generally very cautious and cannot see the leader material. Or they see it relatively little.
The abrasion resistance of the hard mono leader is also a great advantage. Especially in pike fishing, this leader material has proven to be a good alternative to steel leaders.
In our online shop for anglers, you will find hard mono for tying your own or hard mono leaders already tied with swivels and snaps.
You can also tie your own catfish mono leaders with our fishing leader materials.
